Rules

The 2024-25 Season Handbook contains our Centres General Rules as well as a number of Little Athletics Queensland’s (LAQ)  policies including the LAQ Code of Conduct and Zero Tolerance Policy. It is important that all of our athletes and their guardians are familiar with the content of these policies. The full listing of LAQ’s policies and guidelines are available from LAQ’s Policies and Plans page.

Volunteer Bond & Blue Card Requirement

Volunteers are the backbone of Little Athletics and without their valuable contributions, Aspley Little Athletics Centre could not exist. Our Centre relies purely on volunteer help to run our program all year round. We have implemented a volunteer bond that each family is required to pay at the start of each season. The volunteer bond will be refundable from September each year, if parents/guardians complete a total of 10 volunteer events throughout the season. It is also a mandatory requirement that each family must include one (1) weekly Centre competition meet “Setup” or one (1) scheduled “Working Bee” as part of their 10 volunteer events in order to qualify for a refund of their volunteer bond. There will be a number of opportunities throughout the year to attend scheduled Working Bees that will also count towards your volunteer contribution for the season. If the required number of volunteer events are not fulfilled, you will forfeit your volunteer bond.

For further information about the volunteer bond and the type of jobs we need completed, please contact the committee.

Volunteer Bond & Blue Card Requirement

Aspley uses a third-party provider called SignUp to register and record volunteer registrations. Each week the Secretary will send out a reminder to parents to register their volunteer position. There is also a link on the front page of the Aspley Little Athletics Centre website to the SignUp page, in case you didn’t receive the email. On the day of competition, a member of the Committee will attend each age group to confirm which volunteers were in attendance and to also add any late additions to the Volunteer Register. If we don’t have sufficient volunteers, we will be unable to commence that age groups activities, so please register to help, so that delays on the day aren’t encountered.

Please ensure that your attendance has been recorded either in the SignUp tool or on the Volunteer Register each week, so that your volunteer event is recorded. As the process of reviewing volunteer registrations is electronic, if you don’t register or confirm your registration, our systems wont record your attendance.

As Little Athletics is a sporting body centred around children, we encourage all parents and guardians intending to volunteer their time as part of any aspect of Aspley Little Athletics Centres operations (including marshalling, officiating, canteen duties etc.) to undergo a Queensland Government “Working with Children” suitability check – also known as the “Blue Card” system. The link to complete your application online is here The Blue Card is free of charge for volunteers. Once you register and obtain a Blue Card Reference number, send the reference number along with your full name and date of birth to our secretary (secretary@aspleylittleathletics.com) and we will be able to link your account to Aspley Little Athletics Blue Card Portal.

For more information on Little Athletics Queensland’s guidelines please go to the LAQ Policies & Plans Page.
